A broad coalition of local climate groups is organizing a week of actions 9/20 to 9/27 to alert citizens and public officials to the need for immediate emergency action on all levels.
We face future in which millions of people are at risk of displacement by climate change, yet the primary response of our government is to build a wall to keep out refugees and concentration camps to hold them.
Recently, evacuees from Hurricane Dorian in the Bahamas were forced off ferries entering US ports due to a last minute rule change by immigration officials. We must act now to protect the millions in the global south who are the most vulnerable to climate change.
We must resist rhetoric that dehumanize immigrants and the current administration’s attempt to dismantle humanitarian relief and asylum policies for victims of natural disasters.
