Date: March 19, 2018

Time: 7:00 - 8:30 pm

Location: Peace United Church, 900 High St

Sponsored by YARR.  Come learn how to effectively observe and document law enforcement activities in order to defend people’s rights and fight deportations. With increased ICE activity in our communities, this is an especially important training. Legal Observers are often the first responders called to support community members, so this training is a key way to participate in the network. Please join us if you haven’t had the chance to learn legal observation — and if you’ve completed a training, please feel free to come again for a refresher!

RSVP to rapidresponseSC@riseup.net with Legal Observation in the subject line.

Hope to see you there!

Defend J20 Resistance! West Coast Speaking Tour

Date: March 13, 2018

Time: 6:30pm-9:00pm

Location: Freight Building, Depot Park 119 Center St. Santa Cruz

While it is not a YARR sponsored event, we encourage anyone to go who is resisting the Trump agenda, opposed to state repression, and working toward building a more beautiful world.

In the wake of massive protests against Trump’s inauguration in Washington,DC, over 200 people were mass-arrested and charged with unprecedented felonies. Because of shoddy evidence and the political nature of the charges, many people have already been acquitted. There are 59 defendants who still need support and solidarity. In this touring presentation, you’ll hear an overview and critical analysis of the case thus far, highlighting its role and significance in the changing landscape of political repression in the United States.

The event is free; donations are requested to cover costs for event space and travel for the presenters.
